What's Our Aim?
Our aim is to maximise the knowledge capital of our staff in order that the students experience a world class education. We aim to reduce the disparity in all areas of performance whilst increasing the performance of those at the top. This is known as the upwards convergence model of school improvement.
This aim is based on the assumption that within all schools, regardless of their type or catchments, there are elements of their performance that matches society’s expectations. What distinguishes the best from the rest is their ability to manage their knowledge capital in a dynamic environment so that consistently their performance matches and often exceeds society’s expectations.
We believe we are not in the business of retaining the status quo. We are in the business of improving the quality of the education we provide for our students – so that year on year students in our schools with similar characteristics gain a better education than those we have served before them.
This requires us to learn from our past experiences and the success of others. We have therefore a moral commitment to share our knowledge with our colleagues and to learn continually.
Our approach is to use the upwards convergence model of school improvement. It has three elements:
Student Achievement
Delivery and Organisation
Learning Partnerships
These elements represent in practice the answer to three key questions:
What are we trying to achieve?
How are we doing it?
How are we improving it?
As part of our work with colleagues, a number of key programmes have been developed to facilitate our learning. The Teaching and Learning Immersion Programme is just one of these programmes.
